| Soapstone/ Talc/ Steatite |
Talc, the softest of all minerals is known to everyone because of talcum powder. The softness, flakiness, and stability of talc makes it a desirable substance for many purpose. In industry it is mainly classified into hard and soft and fibrous and flaky. It is a platy mineral used for its reinforcing properties. Talc is commonly used as the functional filler for the plastics, and as an extender & pigments for paints. Finely ground talc is widely used in the polypropylene industry for its reinforcing properties. |
| |
| In plastics it adds to the stiffness, dimensional stability, flexural modulus & resistance to creep. It also contributes to good flow, surface appearance and easier machinability of polymers. In plastics, the primary use area of talc is in Polypropylene (PP). |
